Divers should be a bit larger and look ok on the wrist even if they are a bit oversized. I had pretty much the same dilemma and went for the 41 mm. I tried the SM300 and it wore way too big on my 6.5 inch wrist, with long lug to lug height. PO 39.5 wears far better with short lug to lug height. It is thicker but by less than 1mm which is not really noticeable.

You have a few options. Give the Seamaster Pro with a rubber strap a try. It might fit you well. Seamaster AT or the Speedy Pro should be options for you as well.
