These might be evidence of mold or moisture. I don’t think it has anything to do with Fossil quality and everything to do with the fact that they bag has been stored away for a long period of time. Fossil has high quality full leather bags and lesser quality bags.
More importantly, I can't find proof that fossil made any other bags like it but I'm no expert! Thanks for your help. While it's surprising and previously thought to be unlikely that Fossil would be faked, Fossil IS faked and the Poshmark listing is another! This is a comp of the creed from the fake above (not yours but another fake with an identical creed) vs. @whateve's authentic one.
7. Nov 4, 2008. #10. FOssil bags are great for the price. The only thing I don't like are the plastic zippers. I believe the new fifty four line has metal zippers though. The leather is very durable and soft. I got all of mine from Ebay and paid under .00 foe each one.

Fossil has excellent quality leather, just as good sometimes better than coach (only because the thickness and substantiality of their leather) I know my leather .

That being said, the 54 series are beautiful bags, yes - but the target market is higher-end, and, well - my higher-end dollar is going elsewhere, sorry! And also, the price difference from the Fossil isn't that big, so go for the Coach. (I'm not sure about the quality of Fossil, but if it's that pricey, I'm sure it's good.) I've never had a problem with the clasp coming undone and I don't find it that heavy. You can't jam pack the purse either, it's too structured.
